January 1st!

We have an official due date! I went to the doctor for my first prenatal appointment yesterday morning. After filling out an endless amount of paperwork (you'd think since it's all the same since I filled it out last time, I wouldn't have to do an hour of paperwork, but you'd be wrong) and drinking that yummy orange glucose test drink and hearing about all that Carle Hospital has to offer, in the last minute the nurse finally gave us all our due dates. So we're counting down to January 1st. Adam's pulling for the baby to come early so we can get the tax break, but if we wait until the 1st, we have a chance to be the first baby of the decade in Champaign, which would be kind of cool. We'll just have to wait and see!

Adam's always tells me that I don't put in enough pictures, so here's a picture of what Astronaut looks like this week. Apparently he's about the size of a kidney bean and is sprouting little fingers and toes.

The garden is coming along nicely. We've been working on the fence all week, and we're getting close to finishing. We still have a little bit of staining to do and then we need to nail up the pickets and make the gate, but we're getting there. And a few things are sprouting! I think we have carrots coming up. They look like weeds, but they're in such a nice straight line they must be the carrots instead. And this evening I noticed our first cucumber sprout. So with any luck we'll have some nice veggies later this summer and fall.

Mother's Day 2009

We had a fun second Mother's day ever as a family this Sunday. It's starting to feel like Spring, the bushes in the yard are blooming and the grass is starting to green up. We mowed for the first time last week and Abby has been enjoying her swing. Kristin and Abby are planting some flowers in various places and we got some good pictures of the two of them.

We also had a picnic at Allerton. We took Abby to several of the gardens and we had a picnic lunch on the tray of Abby's stroller. We have several good pictures up on the Family Pictures section of the blog. Abby didn't seem to mind the Fu Dogs, though she didn't think they were as funny as normal dogs.

In other news we have a few fun video's of Abby. One is of her playing with mom. Her biggest motivation for standing up is to make a loud boom when she comes down. Either to play with us or because she's throwing a fit and wants to let us know how mad she is.

The other of Dad showing her how to play with Lucy. As you can tell Lucy loves the attention.

Fighting with the House

It's been a busy week at 1602 W Springfield. Monday morning we woke up to a very warm refrigerator. We ordered a new one that morning, but since refrigerators have gotten a lot bigger in the 20 years since the previous owners framed in the fridge we had a hard time finding one that wouldn't require a major remodel to fit, or that was nicer than something you would find in an average dorm room. We found one we liked, but we had to take out the overhead cabinets and we'll have to shave a bit off of the trim before we can put it back. We also had to do a little plumbing to add a water line in our old piping.

Anyway, I know no one really cares that much about our plumbing. Abby really likes the new fridge. It's shiny and she can see a baby in there who's a lot of fun to play with.

We have one more quick video of Abby reading one of her favorite books. She likes to scream everytime we turn another page and get closer to the monster at the end of this book.

Mac and Cheese

We're starting to switch Abby away from baby food. Here's her first taste of real macaroni and cheese.
