Helping Mom Clean

We were just doing some house cleaning today. Abby's almost one, we figured that's old enough to help out right?

Facelift for the Family Blog

Now that we're in a new house, we decided to make a "new" blog, too. Adam <insert appropriate computer sciencey word here> and now I can update without having to go into the code like it used to be. So hopefully I'll be better about updating now that I can do it on my own.

Things have been kind of exciting the past two months since we moved in. It's been fun making the house our home. My parents came down a couple of weeks ago to help us paint the living room (since neither Adam or I knew what we were doing) and I ordered fabric to make new curtains for it too. That's the only big project we've done so far, but we have an ever growing list of more things that we'd like to tackle. I'm excited about starting a garden pretty soon, and Adam wants to reroof the garage this summer.

Abigail has definitely been enjoying her new home. She loves how far she can crawl around in here. She's also gotten quite attached to the living room rug. We usually play there for a good portion of the day, and when we had it all covered up while we were painting the living room she was pretty upset with us for not letting her play on it anyway.

Food has become pretty fun too. She's almost a year old now, so she's eating more and more table food. We've started having dinner together as a family every night, and she gets so upset if we don't give her everything that we're eating. We also started giving her pretzel rods to keep her occupied during dinner. That worked out well for about the first two nights, and then she discovered that she could lick off all the salt and rub the wet pretzel all over her face and head. Oh, what a mess! Adam gave her a spoon with some peanut butter on it the other day, too, and that was a mess too. We're starting to realize that we're just getting our feet wet in terms of the messes that she'll make.

One of my favorite things about the new house is how close we are to several parks. We've taken Abby a couple of times now that the weather's started getting nicer. She is such a big fan of the swing! We tried taking her down the slide, too, but she's a little bit scared of that. She'll tolerate it with Adam, but if I try to take her she just cries. It's a little sad.
