Thanksgiving Pictures

We heard we needed to put up some more pictures of the family from Thanksgiving. Abby had a great time being the cutest one around and everyone else enjoyed seeing her. We went to the Blue Man Group, which was a lot of fun, and Kristin got a chance to put up the Christmas tree which she hasn't done in a while. Enjoy.

Fall Activities

We're really getting into the fall season this year. We took Abby to an orchard and pumpkin patch last weekend, we have a few pictures from that. At her dad's insistence, Abby's also started eating cheerios the week. She can put them in her mouth one at a time and she gums them pretty well. We're pretty sure she's eating at least some of them, although the vast majority end up on the floor - at least now Lucy has a reason to be excited about having Abby around.

Happy 6th Month Birthday

Today was a big day for Abby. She turned 6th months old today, and she had her first two types of solid food - Oatmeal and Twinkie (we're not sure if she really ate any Twinkie but she definitely liked it more then the Oatmeal). Abby's also decided she's ready to start drinking out of a glass, though we're not that she quite has it figured out yet.

Giggling

We have a good video of Abigail giggling. In case its hard to hear Kristin is saying, "LUCY", like I do when Lucy is being bad. I guess Abby thinks its funny when Luccy is about to get in trouble.

Laughing, Toes, and MarioKart

We've been having a lot of fun this last month. Abigail's gotten to be quite the giggler lately. She loves having her tummy tickled, and holding her upside down in the air always gets a laugh. Well, it does for me, anyway. She's usually not a big fan of anyone else holding her upside down, but she's decided that she can trust Mom, so that's a fun game.

Her other new favorite game is sucking on her toes. A few days ago she realized that she can pull her foot up to her mouth and get her toes in there, so that's been pretty funny. The only time it's a problem is when I'm trying to change her diaper and she's got her toes up to her face. It can be hard to get the diaper around her waist like that! It's always a little funny after she's eaten and her tummy is too big for her feet to reach up to her face. She gets a little frustrated sometimes, or else she'll just pull too hard and squeeze out a little spit up trying to get her toes up there. She's also working on getting her heel into her mouth, but so far she hasn't had too much luck on that front.

Adam and my new game is MarioKart. Ever since Adam's parents gave him a Wii for his birthday we've been trying to find MarioKart, and on Monday I finally found it. I like it a lot it's so much easier than any of the other systems! You just put the Wii remote in the steering wheel and drive. Adam's been having a lot of fun with it, too, so we're pretty happy that we finally found it.

We're a little bit afraid that Lucy is regressing. She's back into a bite everything stage, and she's always trying to show that she's dominant over me. She's figured out that while I'm feeding Abigail, I can't really do anything with her, so she'll take advantage of that time to get up from where I told her to stay, or jump up on the window and bark at things, or whine incessantly, or bite things she knows she isn't supposed to bite. I'm hoping that she just has too much energy pent up from not being able to go outside too much lately. We had some remnants of Gustav last week, so the ground is just soaked. I can't decide if it's a good thing, though. When it dries up a bit she can play outside again and hopefully be better behaved, but it's going to be a LONG winter if she decides to be a punk. I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

Happy 4 Month Birthday

We thought we'd put up a quick update for Abigail's 4th Month Birthday. There isn't too much new to report. Abigal's has become great at rolling from her back to her tummy now. Almost every time we lay her down she immediately rolls over. Now that she's starting to figure out how to sleep on her tummy we're all doing all right.

We have a few pictures from tonight and a few of Abigail in a dress she wore a few days ago. Enjoy.

Growing Every Day

Abigail has been growing and developing so much lately! On her three month birthday, she rolled over for the first time. Actually, she rolled over for the first and second time, which was great because we were sort of ready for it the second time and were able to get the video. Earlier that day, I took her to the breast feeding clinic at the hospital to get her weighed, and we found out that she's 12 lbs 14 oz. On her two month birthday she was 10 lbs 9 oz, so we totally missed 11 lbs. Maybe she doesn't like odd numbers.

After a "I don't think I'll take any more naps" stage, Abigail has decided that maybe sleeping during the day isn't such a bad thing after all. That's been fantastic for me, because it gives me a couple of hours in the afternoon to get something done other than hold the baby, try to stop the crying, etc. I also usually am able to get a shower in the morning, rather than 8:00 at night, at which point it's really just about the principle of the thing instead of getting ready for the day. But the past couple of days I've spent getting a garden going in the back yard. It's pretty tiny - all we have are a couple tomato plants and a cucumber plant, surrounded by marigolds - but I'm excited about it. I've been wanting to put in a garden for awhile now, and hopefully in a few months we'll have some nice vegetables from there. They'd better be nice. I got eaten alive by mosquitoes digging up all the grass and weeds to make the garden, and I'd like to think that it was worth it this fall.

Abigail has also learned to recognize her bedtime routine, which wouldn't be bad except that she doesn't like bedtime. Not only does she recognize her routine, but she's figured it out to the point that she knows that Dad is the one who puts her down after she's had her last feeding of the day. So for the past couple of days, I've fed her, and then when I picked her up to burp her, as soon as she saw Adam she's started to cry. And it's the saddest little cry ever, because it starts out as the hugest pout you've ever seen and then ginormous tears start falling from her eyes and then she starts to make crying noises. So that breaks my heart every night. We're not sure why she hates bedtime so much - we think maybe she just doesn't want to be left alone in her crib. Who knew a three month old could get so lonely?

Oklahoma

There hasn't been too much going on around here lately. Last weekend Adam's parents came to visit, so we had a good time then. On Saturday we all went out Texas Roadhouse for dinner. Abigail cried a lot, but she also got a lot of compliments, so I guess that all kind of evens out. Then on Sunday afternoon Adam and I got to have a little date while Grandma and Grandpa stayed with Abby. Nothing too exciting - we just walked around the quad and got some ice cream at Cold Stone, but it was fun. It's nice to go out just the two of us now and then.

We have had some rolling over excitement. On Wednesday, Abigail was lying on her back on her play mat and she rolled over onto her tummy. Then during tummy time on Friday she rolled over from her tummy to her back twice. So that's been pretty exciting. She also started laughing last week. So far I've only gotten her to laugh three times, and Adam hasn't heard it yet, but she's officially on her way to being a giggler!

The main point of this update was to share the video from the Fourth of July, which really speaks for itself. Sorry it's late, it took a while to secure all the consents.

(Can you tell Abigail is taking longer naps?)

A Few Cute Pictures

We still need to put up some good pictures we have from seeing all the family on the 4th of July, but until then we have some cute pictures of Abigail we thought it would be fun to put up.

In the first Dad has loosened up the seatbelt on her swing a little too much. In the second and third we have a few examples of the funny situations Abigail gets herself into at night now that she can wriggle all the way around her crib. Sometimes it's a lot funnier then this but this is what we have pictures of. At least she's always happy to see us then.

Another Update

It's been a long time since we've posted an update. It's always been on the list of things to do, but somehow it never makes it to the top. Abigail is sleeping in this morning so I thought I'd take the chance to put up some more pictures.

We visited the VanDuyne grandparents in Warsaw two weekends ago, especially to be at a party for both of my grandparents 80th birthday. We all had a good time, although the last day Abigail had quite the upset tummy. My parents gave me a Wii as an early birthday present so Kristin and I have had fun playing with that (as of last night I'm 27 and Kristin's 31).

This weekend we're going to Symphony on the Prairie for the 4th of July with both grandparents. I think Abigail already has her outfit picked out and I'm sure there will be lots of cute pictures.

Two Month Doctor's Appointment

Yesterday we had Abigail's two month doctor's appointment. She's doing great they said. She weighs 10 pounds 2 ounces now and she's been gaining ground in all of the weight and size percentiles. The doctor says the way she holds her head and chest up is better than a lot of four month olds, so I guess all that tummy time is paying off for her.

Sadly, the two month appointment is when you start getting shots. Abigail was very unhappy when she discovered that. But, after we gave her a little baby Tylenol she seemed a lot calmer and she slept through the night so all is probably well. She's only giving us a slightly betrayed look now ...

Father's Day and Abby's Birthday

Well, today is Fathers Day and Abby's two month birthday. Abby has been especially smiley this week, she gets a little more smiley everyday. Dad's been trying to get some pictures of her morning smiles for a while and maybe as a Father's day present she let him get them today. They're pretty cute.
